ROSEMONT, Ill. (CBS) – One person was killed in a four-car crash Thursday night in Rosemont, along the perimeter of O’Hare International Airport.

CBS 2’s Susanna Song reports one of the vehicles went through an airport fence on Higgins Road.

Rosemont police said four vehicles were involved in the crash at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Higgins, between Mannheim Road and Touhy Avenue, at the northeast corner of O’Hare Airport.

One of the four vehicles plowed through a fence at O’Hare.

Rusty Carpenter, 37, of East Dundee, was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m. at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. It was not clear which vehicle he was in.

Rosemont police were investigating, and planned to be at the scene through 8 a.m., reconstructing the crash.

Higgins was closed between Touhy and Mannheim as police investigated.
