Cubs Ranked 5th Best Farm System, White Sox 25th

(CBS) When Theo Epstein first took control of the Cubs in late 2011, one of his main priorities was to improve the team's lackluster farm system.

Two year later, Epstein has done just that, as the Cubs were recently ranked as the fifth best farm system in all of baseball, tied with the Kansas City Royals, according to Baseball America.

Baseball America used a point system based on the top prospects in each minor league, the position of the top prospects, the strength of the league and prospects closest to the majors.

The four teams ahead of the Cubs were the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers.

The White Sox, however, were ranked as the 25th best.
