Four Charged With Trying To Carjack Off-Duty Police Officer

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Four men were charged with attempting to carjack an off-duty Chicago police officer in the South Shore neighborhood Sunday night.

Rashee Herron, Deonta Brown, Marcus L. Johnson and Michael Jackson were each charged with one count of attempted vehicular hijacking with a weapon, according to a release from Chicago police.

Police said about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, the four men tried to take a vehicle by force from a man in the 7400 block of South Yates Avenue.

The vehicle was being driven by an off-duty police officer, police said.

Bail was set at $450,000 for both 21-year-old Herron, of the 7400 block of South Phillips Avenue, and for Jackson, 20, of the 2400 block of East 74th Street, according to authorities.

Bail information was not available for Brown, 21, of the 7400 block of South Yates Avenue. The same goes for Johnson, 36, of the 4100 block of South Prairie Avenue.
