Man Critically Wounded In Armed Robbery On West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was critically wounded during an armed robbery Saturday morning on the West Side.

The 48-year-old was shot just after 6 a.m. in the 4400 block of North Maypole, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said. Police initially listed the location of the shooting as the 100 block of North Kostner Avenue.

The man was driving a vehicle that was stopped at an intersection when a male approached on foot and demanded money, Sullivan said. When the motorist replied that he did not have any money, the male shot him and fled.The man was shot in the back and arm and drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, said police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

Area North detectives were investigating.
