Two Rogers Park School Staffers Step Down Following Texting Scandal

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A teacher and an assistant principal at Jordan Community School in the Rogers Park neighborhood have resigned, following a text messaging scandal that came to light earlier this year.

WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports Chicago Public Schools officials were mum about the reason for the resignations, but at the start of the school year, the same staffers were removed from the classroom, suspected of inappropriate relationships with underage boys.

According to parents at the school, the two staffers had sent inappropriate text messages to male students last school year.

They complained they raised their concerns with the principal back then, but no action was taken until the current school year.

School officials have only said that students were never in harm's way.
