Man Shot Multiple Times In West Town

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot multiple times while driving in the West Town neighborhood early Saturday.

The man, 29, was driving a vehicle with two friends inside in the 500 block of West Grand Avenue about 4:15 a.m. when another vehicle drove alongside and someone inside fired several shots, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

The driver was shot twice in the right arm, once in the chest and once in the abdomen, Estrada said.

The motorist was able to drive to the 1300 block of West Lake Street where an unknown acquaintance drove him to Rush University Medical Center where he was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in good condition, Estrada said.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated.
