Police Warned Sex Assault Accuser About Pursuing Seminole Football Player

(CBS) The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that a Tallahassee detective pressured an alleged victim of sexual assault not to pursue the alleged assailant, Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, because Tallahassee is a "big football town" and the victim's  life could "be made miserable."

The newspaper cites a statement released by the victim and her family exclusively through The Times, which you can read here.

The alleged incident took place last December after the victim took a shot from an unknown person and left a Tallahassee bar in a cab.

Winston has not been arrested or charged with a crime, and his attorneys have publicly denied any wrongdoing.

When the victim identified her attacker as Winston last January, "the family grew concerned that she would be targeted on campus" and requested assistance from an attorney friend, according to the statement.
