Tinley Park Police Department Cleared When Woman Shows Up With Grenade

(CBS) – The Tinley Park Police station was evacuated Thursday night after a mother showed up with a grenade her child had found in a field behind their home.

Police say the World War II-era grenade was missing the pin that locks the handle, but something else was in its place.

Bomb technicians determined it was dangerous and removed it. The station reopened.
