Cubs Acquire Catcher George Kottaras From Royals

(CBS) -- The Chicago Cubs acquired catcher George Kottaras from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations.

Kottaros, 30, started 29 games last season with the Royals and hit .180 with five home runs and 12 RBI. He is a career .214 hitter with 96 home runs in stints with the Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox.
