Kane Named NHL's No. 1 Star For November

(CBS) Not only do the Blackhawks own the NHL's best record, but Patrick Kane has been named the league's No. 1 star for the month of November.

The announcement comes one day after teammate Duncan Keith was named the First Star of the Week.

"It's a pretty cool honor," Kane said after the Hawks' morning skate Tuesday at the United Center in preparation to face the Dallas Stars. "It probably speaks more for what the team has been doing lately and sometimes when your team is playing well you're going to have some personal achievements along the way. I know some other guys had great months so hats off to them, too."

Kane scored nine goals, including four-game winners, in November. He tallied 19 points as the Blackhawks won 12 of 15 games.

Kane, 25, ranks third in the league with 16 goals and is tied for fifth with 30 points in 28 games this season.

"I feel pretty good," Kane said. "I think there is always room for improvement. You can always do certain things better on the ice. It's been a good start to the season. You want to keep it going. There are certian things you want to turn around, whether it's your defensive play or your plus-minus. You can always look and try to do more."
