(STMW) --Red Line trains are resuming normal service after a woman was struck and killed by a train Wednesday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.

The person was struck about noon by a northbound Red Line train at the 63rd station at 220 W. 63rd St., according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinki.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was killed, but her name and home address were not yet known Wednesday night, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The death was an apparent suicide, authorities said.

Red Line trains resumed normal service as of about 1:30 p.m., according to Hosinki.
