Driver Cited In West Side School Bus Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A driver was cited for a school bus crash that injured a child Thursday afternoon on the West Side.

The crash happened about 3:10 p.m. near the intersection of 16th Street and Racine Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

A 48-year-old woman heading south in her car on Racine failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the school bus, which was heading west on 16th Street, O'Brien said.

One child was injured in the minor accident and taken to University of Illinois Medical Center in "stable" condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Juan Hernandez.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
