Man Killed In Evanston Shooting

EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) -- A 30-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday evening in north suburban Evanston.

The man was shot about 6:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said in a news release.

He was identified as Floyd Gibert of the 2000 block of Ashland Avenue in Evanston, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Shortly after the shooting, while someone was driving the man to the hospital, the vehicle was involved in a crash at Greenbay Road and McCormick Boulevard, Parrot said.

Givert was pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital at 7:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Evanston police are investigating.
