Teen Suspected Of Car-Burglary Spree Arrested In Park Ridge

(STMW) -- An 18-year-old man charged with a series of car burglaries in the northwest suburbs is suspected of dozens more, including the vehicles of police officers and firefighters.

Gregory Magnuszweski, 18, of the 4600 block of North Grace Street in Schiller Park, is charged with four felony counts of burglary to motor vehicles, according to a statement from Park Ridge police.

Magnuszweski is charged with four burglaries in Park Ridge, but is suspected in at least 30 other robberies in the village, as well as dozens in Chicago and Schiller Park, police said. Additional charges are pending in other jurisdictions.

Among the stolen items recovered by police were cell phones, sports equipment and other electronics. The targets included police and firefighters' vehicle, among the stolen items found were a police radio, body armor and pistol magazine, police said.

A witness to one of the burglaries provided a partial license plate, and a Park Ridge detective reconfigured the numbers and letters until he was able to link it to a vehicle matching the description of the car, police said.
