(CBS) The White Sox have signed right-handed pitcher Felipe Paulino to a one-year contract.

The deal is worth $1.75 million with a team option for 2015.

The 30-year-old Paulino spent the 2013 season in the Royals organization after undergoing Tommy Johns surgery, going 0-3 with a 6.51 ERA in Double and Triple-A.

Paulino, 6-foot-3, 270 pounds, went 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA and 39 strikeouts over seven starts with the Royals in 2012.
