No Bond For Man Charged In Thanksgiving Stabbing Death

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man charged with stabbing a woman to death on Thanksgiving in the Northwest Side Portage Park neighborhood was ordered held without bond Thursday.

Alberto Gaytan, 42, of the 3000 block of West Ainslie Street, was arrested on first-degree murder charges Wednesday night, police said. He was ordered held without bond Thursday.

Maria Gonzalez, 39, was found by police in the street near her home in the 4800 block of North Moody Avenue about 5 a.m. Nov. 28, authorities said.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy found she suffered multiple stab and incise wounds, and ruled her death a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Authorities believe she was killed in a domestic incident.
