GARY, Ind. (STMW) — A 4-year-old northwest Indiana boy accidentally shot himself in the shoulder Friday morning with a gun belonging to his mother’s boyfriend, police said.
The child found the gun under the couch at his family’s home in the 1900 block of Rhode Island Street in Gary, the Post-Tribune is reporting.
He was taken to The Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus in Gary for treatment of the gunshot wound.
The gun owner had a permit for the weapon, according to police. He was not arrested, but is expected to be questioned later Friday.
