Some Old CTA Fare Cards Set To Expire Monday

(STMW) -- Some CTA magnetic stripe fare cards are set to expire Monday at midnight.

CTA customers using the magnetic stripe cards are being asked to check the expiration date stamped on the back, the CTA said in a release.

An expired card will be non-functional, and the user will lose any current funds, CTA said.

However, CTA customers can still retain their funds by adding value to their card between Friday and Sunday, the release said. Commuters who do so will receive a new magnetic stripe fare card and retain their current value, the release added.

Customers who miss the deadline can also get a new card mailed to them retaining the previous balance by calling 1-(800) YOUR-CTA.
