Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $586 Million
CHICAGO (CBS) — Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot has spiked to $586 million.
The biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever: $656 million last year, which was split by three winning tickets, including one sold in Redbud, Ill.
Ticket sales are ahead of projections, one of the primary factors pushing the jackpot higher, officials said.
The jackpot may be increased one more time on Tuesday morning in advance of the evening drawing.
Strong weekend sales could push Tuesday's jackpot above last year's record $656 million prize.
No ticket matched the six numbers needed to win Friday's $425 million prize.
