Couple: We Won $1M Mega Millions Prize; 'A Good Gift For Christmas'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Twenty Mega Millions players matched five out of six numbers in Tuesday night's drawing, and won a $1 million prize, and one of those tickets was sold in Chicago.

WBBM Newsradio's Steve Miller talked to a couple who claimed they have the million-dollar ticket sold in Chicago.

They haven't officially come forward yet to claim the prize from the Illinois Lottery, but as WBBM was talking to the owner of the Tai Nam Market grocery store at 4925 N. Broadway, where the ticket was sold, two people kept milling around taking photos.

We asked them if they were holding one of the million-dollar tickets, and they said yes.

"Last night, we checked the number. It was so exciting," the man said.

His wife said she couldn't sleep.

"It's really a good gift for Christmas for our family and my sister's family," the husband said.

The couple, who came here from Vietnam in 1984, said they are only a little disappointed they were just one number away from winning a share of the $636 million jackpot.

"Only one," the wife said, holding up one finger - and shrugging.

They said they will pay off their mortgage with their winnings.

The couple did not give their names and the Illinois Lottery has not verified their story yet.
