Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Car On West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The woman killed early Tuesday when she was struck by a car on the West Side has been identified by authorities.

Shena Brown, 44, of Chicago was hit by a car about 4:40 a.m. near West Roosevelt Road and South Damen Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

She was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where she later died, police said.

The driver stopped at the scene and was being questioned. Preliminary information available to investigators suggested neither drugs nor alcohol was involved, police said, and that Brown walked against the light.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
