CHICAGO (CBS) -- A South Side man has been charged with raping a woman at gunpoint as she slept in a car in the Pullman neighborhood in 2011.

Dwayne Towns, 51, faces felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm and kidnapping in connection with the Sept. 4, 2011 attack, according to police.

According to a community alert issued a week after the attack, a 21-year-old woman was sleeping in a relative's vehicle in a parking lot in the 11600 block of South Halsted Street about 4:15 a.m.

A man got into the driver's seat and drove to the 12000 block of South Morgan, where he sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

The woman was able to escape and notify police, the alert said.

Towns, of the 12200 block of South Morgan Street, was identified through DNA and a lineup, according to police.
