It was about 1 p.m. on New Year's Eve when 31-year-old Luz Marquez went into labor.

And then 11 hours later...

"It was time to start pushing and I heard the TV. And everybody was telling me, OK, it's time. And then he was born - exactly at 12:00:33. Or 12:01, something like that. But the TV was still with the fireworks."

She says she could hear all the to-do on TV and sort of felt like they were counting her down.

"Kind of, yeah. Because everybody was telling me, yeah - it's going to be the first baby of the year.

"And I'm like, I just want this baby to be born already."

Luz Marquez says this is the third child - the first son - for her and her husband.

She says she and her son - Luis Anthony Marquez - are both doing well.
