Auto Repair Shops Busy As Potholes Cause Problems For Chicago Drivers

(CBS) -- If you need to take your car in for repair be prepared to wait. Mother Nature has wreaked havoc with our vehicles and most auto repair shops are backed up.

Jack Gordon at Ashland Tire and Auto Center says extreme temperatures cause big problems and so do the dreaded potholes.

"You hit a pothole today, the tire hits on the rim and makes a little hole on the inner liner and doesn't make the tire go flat. Slowly the air escapes in that tire and forms a bubble on the sidewall. Eventually, while you are driving, that bubble gets bigger and bigger until it lets go

Gordon says they're twice as busy as normal right now and customers are lined out the door with tire issues.
