19-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Chicago Lawn Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Grand Boulevard man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a man last week in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Devon Clark, 19, was charged Saturday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Joseph Brittman, according to a police news release.

Brittman, 19, was shot in the back during an argument about 3 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the 6400 block of South Campbell Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Brittman, of the 6600 block of South Bell Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 5:24 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Investigators had questioned Clark the morning after the shooting, police News Affairs said at the time. The investigation included "multiple witness statements" before he was taken into custody, the release said.

Clark, of the 600 block of East 50th Place, is scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday.
