Woman Killed In Far South Side Hit-And-Run

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman died after she was apparently hit by a vehicle Saturday in the East Side neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Angelia Alvarado, 44, was found unresponsive in the street in the 10000 block of South Ewing Avenue about 3:40 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Alvarado, of the 10000 block of South Avenue L, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died at 6:25 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

She had apparently been struck by a vehicle, authorities said. No description of the vehicle was available early Sunday.

An autopsy to determine cause and manner of death is scheduled for Sunday.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
