Suspect Sought In Fatal Shooting Of 16-year-old

(STMW) -- A South Shore neighborhood man is wanted for fatally shooting a 16-year-old boy earlier this month at a gathering in the Woodlawn neighborhood, police said Friday.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Darryl Lee, 20, last known to live in the 7400 block of South Phillips Avenue, police said. Lee is believed to be in the Chicago area.

Authorities claim Lee shot and killed 16-year-old Marquis Harris on Jan. 11 at a gathering in a second-floor apartment in the 6200 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue.

Harris and his girlfriend were arguing when Lee, a friend of the girlfriend, intervened, police claim.

The shooter left the gathering, then returned and shot Harris in the chest, authorities said at the time.

Harris, who lived on the same block where he was shot, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Anyone who sees Lee should consider him armed, use caution and call 911 right away, police said. Authorities have not yet recovered the .45 caliber handgun used in the slaying.
