(CBS) Former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson was open and honest about his past and battle with sobriety when he stopped by the 670 The Score studio to chat with the McNeil and Spiegel Show on Friday morning.

Tyson said he's been sober for about six months now -- "no cigarettes, no nothing," he said -- though it's an ongoing battle every day.

"I'm just still fighting every day," Tyson said. "Every day I'm fighting. Any day can make me relapse."

Even with a hectic travel schedule, Tyson said he regularly seeks out meetings on the road supporting recovering drug addicts.

"Your conduct is sobriety," Tyson said. "How you look at women, how you interact with people -- that's all sobriety.

"You got to work on your conduct. It's all about being a good person … That's what sobriety's about, improvement as a person.

"I've come a long way."

Tyson was in studio promoting Friday Night Fights, which will take place at the UIC Pavilion later tonight.
