Woman Found Fatally Stabbed At Southwest Side Fire Scene

(STMW) -- A woman was found stabbed to death in a building that caught fire Friday afternoon in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood, police said.

The extra-alarm fire started about 1:50 p.m. in a 3-story house in the 2500 block of West 45th Place, police and fire officials said.

The female was found with multiple stab wounds inside one of multiple structures that caught fire, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said. She was dead at the scene, and her age was not yet known.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

As of 3:30 p.m., the fire was out and no one else was reported injured, Fire Media Affairs spokeswoman Verdi Allen said, adding no rescues were required.

The Office of Fire Investigation and Area Central detectives are investigating.
