Ohio-Based Grocery Chain Buys Former Dominick's In Bannockburn

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. (CBS) -- Another former Dominick's store is getting a new owner.

The Dominick's store in far north suburban Bannockburn, which closed its doors this past weekend, will reopen in the next several months as a Heinen's Fine Foods grocery store.

The Ohio-based chain, which already operates one Illinois store in Barrington, is expected to begin applying for the necessary permits and licenses soon, according to a statement from the Bannockburn Village Manager's office.

Mariano's has bought 11 closed Dominick's stores; Whole Foods has bought seven; Caputo & Sons and Jewel-Osco each have bought four; and Tony's Finer Foods has bought one.
