EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (CBS) – One man died in a fire Friday afternoon in northwest Indiana that also put several children in harm’s way.

The Lake County Coroner’s office said investigators were dispatched to the 3900 block of Deal Street for a fire-related death. The victim was a 60-year-old man extricated from the basement, CBS 2’s Brad Edwards reports.
