CHICAGO (STMW) – A man died Saturday night after he was shot while sitting in a car in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

Michael Redmond, 32, was in a car shortly after 7:40 p.m. in the 200 block of North Latrobe Avenue when another car pulled alongside his and an occupant shot him multiple times, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Redmond drove away after he was shot and crashed into several parked cars in the 5500 block of West Washington Street, where he was found wounded, authorities said.

Officers found a handgun inside the car he was driving, police said.

Redmond, of the 6200 block of West Wabansia Avenue, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where he was pronounced dead at 8:19 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Nobody is in custody Saturday night as Area North detectives investigate.
