Olympians Land In Chicago On Return From Sochi

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some Olympians making their way home from Sochi came through Chicago Monday afternoon.

CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports about a dozen Team USA Olympians arrived at O'Hare to cheers and congratulations. A few were even sporting some coveted bling.

Snowboarder Alex Deibold was among them. He won a bronze in the snowboard cross event, clearly happy with his performance in his first Olympics. Diebold waxed boards for the team four years ago.

The Olympians flew into O'Hare straight from Sochi and all are catching connecting flights back to their home base - taking some exhilarating memories and experiences with them.

"This time around, to be an athlete and get to be there with all my teammates was pretty unreal," said Diebold.

"We were obviously disappointed in our result but we worked really hard to get there and we tried our hardest the whole time we were there and we know we gave it our all," said Erika Brown, member of Team USA Curling.

All have moved on to their connections but as skier Lyman Currier told Kozlov, many will soon start preparing for the next games.
