Watch: Olympic Skater Gracie Gold Latest To Get Asked To High School Prom By Stranger

(CBS) For dazzling young female athletes with dazzling looks, it's becoming commonplace now.

Shine on the world stage, then get asked to prom on social media by a starry-eyed teenage boy.

The latest in this trend comes from a guy who says he's from Malibu, Calif., and he asks Olympic figure skater Gracie Gold to his prom in March. The 18-year-old Gold recently took fourth place in the Sochi Winter Olympics.

"The Olympic judges got it wrong," he says. "You're the only gold I see.

For her part, Gold played along, though there's no indication she's accepted the offer.
