Woman Hit, Killed By Car In Aurora

Updated 03/06/14 - 8:40 a.m.

AURORA, Ill. (STMW) --A woman died Thursday morning after she was hit by a car in west suburban Aurora.

The 56-year-old woman was walking north in the street on Randall Road just south of Sullivan Road about 4:15 a.m. when she was hit by a northbound, 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 65-year-old woman, city spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in a statement.

Ferrelli said it was too early to know whether police will cite the Taurus's driver. But it didn't appear at the scene that drugs or alcohol were involved, he said.

The 56-year-old was taken to a west suburban hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, Ferrelli said.

Randall Road between Sullivan and Indian Trail roads was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash, but is reopen as of 8 a.m., Ferrelli said.
