CHICAGO (STMW) — A woman was stabbed several times early Friday in the Wicker Park neighborhood.
The incident happened about 2:10 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Damen Avenue after the woman — thought to be in her 20s — left a nearby nightclub with a man, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, citing preliminary information. After leaving the nightclub, a vehicle carrying a man and woman pulled up alongside the two and began yelling gang slogans, Greer added.
The two exited the vehicle and a physical altercation ensued between both parties. The woman that had just left the nightclub was stabbed in the torso and back, Greer said. After the confrontation, the suspects got back in the vehicle and drove off.
The injured woman then walked to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, but was later taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with non-life-threatening injuries. She was listed in “stable” condition, Greer said.
Ages were not immediately available, but everyone was thought to be an adult, Greer said.
No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
