Man Dies After Being Struck By At Least 2 Cars In Lincolnwood

LINCOLNWOOD, Ill. (STMW) -- A 19-year-old man died after he was struck by at least two cars while crossing the street Monday morning in north suburban Lincolnwood.

Rescue crews responding to a crash about 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Kostner and West Touhy avenues found the man lying in the street, having been struck by at least two cars, Lincolnwood Police Deputy Chief John Walsh said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified him as Aaron Thal. He lived in the 700 block of Kenneth Avenue in Lincolnwood, less than two blocks northwest of where he was struck by the vehicles.

Thal was apparently trying to catch a bus and was already down when the cars hit him, authorities said.

It was not immediately known why he was already lying in the street, but it is possible a third vehicle hit him and drove away, Walsh said. He was wearing black clothing and it was dark outside at the time.

He was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he later died, Walsh said.

The drivers of the two cars stayed at the scene, but no citations had been issued as of 1:30 p.m. as police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force investigate.
