(CBS) The Seahawks have re-signed defensive end/defensive tackle Michael Bennett, according to multiple reports, meaning the Bears have missed out on one of their top targets in an attempt to remake their defense.

The Seahawks tweeted out a picture Monday afternoon of Bennett inking the deal.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported the deal is was for just more than $8 million per year. The Bears were reported to have been offering around $8.5 million per year, according to the Chicago Tribune.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Shcefter confirmed the deal as well, saying it was in the four-year, $34-million range.

The Bears, including Bennett’s brother Martellus, had been recruiting him intensely.
