Chris Fowler To Replace Musburger On ABC's Saturday Night Football

(CBS) ESPN announced on Thursday that Chris Fowler will be the new play-by-play man for ABC's Saturday Night Football next season, a move that was expected after is was announced one day earlier that Brent Musburger wouldn't be returning to call the network's college football game of the week.

Fowler will work with color analyst Kirk Herbstreit.

Fowler is as respected as they come in the business, but the past 24 hours haven't been easy on college football fans. Musburger is a legend, and his sometimes-subtle-and-sometimes-not-so-subtle gambling references will be sorely missed.

Musburger will move to the new SEC Network, where he will call games with Jesse Palmer. It's good to have him around still, but ABC's primetime game will have a different feel to it.
