The girl was identified Saturday afternoon but her name was withheld as detectives try to track down the girl’s mother, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.

She was taken in good condition to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Center in Evergreen Park and has since been released into the custody of the state’s Department of Child and Family Services, Sweeney said.

It was not immediately known how long the girl had been alone in the vestibule before she was found.

Anyone with information should contact Area South detectives at (312) 747-8274.
