(CBS) It’s no secret that the Olympics can often be a colossal waste of money, wasting billions of dollars on infrastructure that can go largely unused when the two weeks of glory and national attention is over.
That said, Russia may have set a new standard of low with the recently completed Sochi Olympics. The country spent a record $51 billion on the Winter Games, and now the Olympic Village and surrounding area is a ghost town, according to a Russian blogger who proves his point with depressing picture after depressing picture of the deserted scene.
