(CBS) – Authorities are looking for a man and a woman who conducted a violent takeover-style robbery at an East Chicago, Ind. bank before firing shots at responding police.

Police say a man and woman, armed with 9-mm handguns, stormed the First Merchants Bank at 4740 Indianapolis Boulevard on Saturday. The pair forced everyone to the floor, jumped the teller's counter and grabbed the cash drawers.

The pair then fled in a Suburban and fired shots at police as they arrived to the scene.
