Police went to the yard on Monday after someone said they spotted the car that had been stolen the night before and ever since police have been going over hundreds of cars in the yard. So far, they have identified about 40 stolen vehicles.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Aaron Adelman co-owns the scrap yard with his father. Aaron Adelman is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

City Hall gave a six-figure tax break to the salvage yard.

The alderman who secured the tax break hopes the arrest is the end of the illegal activity.

"My hopes are that it's a low level employee that this was not an action being done by the entire organization," said Alderman John Pope

Alderman Pope has accepted $4,600 in campaign cash from Adelman's. He says he will return that money if the operation is a scam.
