(CBS) The Chicago Wolves have signed Jake Chelios, the youngest son of Hall of Famer and former Blackhawk Chris Chelios, to a professional tryout contract, the team announced Friday.
A 23-year-old defenseman, Jake Chelios comes up from the ECHL, where he recorded two points in seven games for Toledo. He played collegiately for four years at Michigan State prior to that.
If Chelios appears in a game for the Wolves, he’ll become part of the first father-and-son duo to play for the franchise in its 20-year history. Chris Chelios finished his professional career with the Wolves in 2009-10.
