Out-Of-Control Driver Smashes Cars, Critically Injures Bicyclist

(CBS) -- A driver critically injured a bicyclist after smashing into several cars, and a scooter in the north suburbs Sunday.

It started at 10 a.m. as police say an out-of-control driver hit a car on Ridge and Davis in Evanston and took off. The driver then hit another car on Chicago Avenue and hit a woman riding a scooter, who took herself to St. Francis. All of the cars were moving.

The driver then hit a man riding a bicycle in the 700 block of Main Avenue. The bicyclist was taken to St. Francis in critical condition.

Police soon spotted by police and pulled over on the 4600 block of Main Street in Skokie.

The driver is a 63-year-old woman from Wilmette. She was taken into custody and then taken to the hospital.

No charges have been filed yet.
