(CBS) Oakland A’s pitcher Sonny Gray recorded an out yesterday against Seattle on a most rarely seen play.

With one out in the top of the sixth, Kyle Seager drill a liner down the first-base line that seemed like it would go for an easy double. Instead, the ball ricocheted off first base at just the right angle to pop into the air and become an out when Gray, his instincts taking him in that direction to cover the bag, caught the ball and jogged to the bag for an out.
