CHICAGO (STMW) – A man was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting early Sunday in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

The duo were in the rear of a building in the 6000 block of South Indiana Avenue at 2:40 a.m. when shots were fired, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Corey Brownlee, 32, was shot in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 3:26 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

A 27-year-old woman was shot in the lower right leg and also taken to Stroger, where she is in “stable” condition, Greer said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
