(CBS) Shortly after waiving the little-used Tornike Shengelia, the Bulls on Monday announced they’ve signed forward Greg Smith for the remainder of the season.
Smith is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee. That means he could either be a trade chip for this summer or perhaps figure into the Bulls’ future next season.
The 6-foot-10 Smith appeared in 89 games for the Rockets over the last three seasons, averaging 5.3 points in his career. He appeared in 11 games for Houston this season, averaging 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game.
The Bulls now once again have a full roster of 15 players.
Chicago is 47-33, in a tie for the third seed in the East with Toronto, which holds the tiebreaker. The Bulls host the Magic tonight at the United Center before finishing the regular season against the Bobcats in Charlotte on Wednesday.
