Young Victim Of Pitbull Attack Has Nightmares Of The Ordeal: Grandmother

(CBS) -- A nine-year-old boy is recovering after being mauled by a pitbull, and it might not be the first time the dog went on the attack.

The victim -- Aidan Garcia --- has bad bites on his right knee and left ankle.

"It was like the dog just took just a chunk out, and it's horrible," grandmother Annette Josleyn tells CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot.

"He had a nightmare last night – woke up screaming," she says.

Aidan was walking to a community center in his East Chicago, Ind. neighborhood Tuesday when he was attacked by a 5-year-old Pitbull named Drizzy.

"When I got here he was laying right here, just bleeding, crying and reaching out for us," family friend Shemeika White says.

East Chicago police say the owner of the dog gave a statement Thursday morning. She says the dog was in his ten-by-fifteen-foot kennel in the backyard and somehow got out.

While Josleyn and others in the neighborhood say the dog has attacked before, police say they have no prior record of the dog attacking anyone.

"I am a dog lover. I've got a dog myself, so it's not a case that I hate dogs, I do love dogs. It's a dangerous dog. It needs to be gone," the grandmother says.
