CHICAGO (STMW) — A woman died after she was pulled from Lake Michigan downtown Friday night.

Emergency crews responded to a call of a body in the water in the 300 block of Lake Shore Drive near Navy Pier just after 9:30 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

Tyna Nguyen, thought to be in her 20s, was rescued from the lake but wasn’t breathing when she was pulled from the water, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office and Fire Media Affairs.

Nguyen was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she died at 11:04 p.m., authorities said.

Her home address was not immediately known.

Area Central detectives are conducting a non-criminal death investigation.
